Our Mission!
The Confetti Cake Project is a Christ-centered mental health project on mission to raise awareness and provide encouragement for those who are struggling with their mental health. Encouraging people to STAY, hold onto hope, and taste and see that the Lord is good.
Behind the Name
The name behind “confetti cake” is from a poem called Stay, by Tanner Olson @writtentospeak. The poem is telling the person on the other side to stay because better days are coming. The Lord has good plans. It ends with the line “And tomorrow is worth staying for. And maybe tomorrow we can have some confetti cake.” In Psalm 34, King David is in deep anguish; deep depression and sorrow, yet he says, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” You may be in deep suffering, the depression you are feeling may be too heavy to get out of bed right now. The anxiety may be flooding your thoughts too much to get a word out. But the confetti cake project is here to remind you that there is room at the table for you, your mental health is in the hands of the Good Shepherd who is holding your hand and wiping your tears. Our Good Shepherd wants the best for His sheep. (Psalm 23:5).
Meet the founder!

Josie Pettit
Hi, I’m Josie!! I am so glad you’re here! I created the Confetti Cake Project in February 2024!
Since I was really little, I’ve struggled with severe anxiety and panic attacks. I also love Jesus, He is my redeemer and best friend. So with that... shame and fear made me think I would be condemned or a failure if I admitted to struggling with my mental health. I tried to white knuckle it and make it go away on my own, without asking for help. I wanted to prove I could do it alone with God. It took rock bottom to find out that we are not meant to do this alone! Jesus cares about our mental health. Counseling, therapy, medication, self-care, and the local church are all resources for us, and an example of God's grace!
A song that encapsulates my story is: No Room For an Anxious Heart by Chris Renzema. I have a tattoo of the word “room” on my finger to remind me there is room in God’s house for me when I am anxious, The prince of Peace does not cast out His children when we are struggling.
I have the biggest passion for erasing the stigma around talking about mental health in the church and reminding Jesus followers that they are seen, loved, and cared for by the Father.
I am so happy you are here! Stay!
